We made the news!

We have been completely blown away by the response we’ve had since our launch in early February 2023 – it just goes to show the depth of the housing emergency, the need to find news ways to address it, and then collective desire to do so.

Earlier in the month, BBC News’ Mark Easton visited Knowle West to film a story about WeCanMake and our pioneering residents Toni, John and Bill. On 13 February, the story had a prime-time spot on Radio 4’s Today programme and News at One (TV), and it was a surreal time to see WeCanMake in the national news!

The BBC story quickly led to further press coverage, and we were visited by reporters and subsequently featured on ITV News and the Jeremy Vine Show. We were also delighted to have interest from the left and right, with stories published in The Mirror and The Daily Mail, as well as in the local press from Bristol 24/7, Bristol World, and Bristol Live.
